VOODOO GLOW SKULLS IN CONCERT:
?
Voodoo Glow Skulls have been revving up fans with their rowdy brand of ska punk for more than 25 years, and during that time they’ve perfected the art of the off-the-wall live show. The well-oiled six-piece is known for their breakneck tempos, blaring brass section, and the deep-throated vocals of frontman Frank Casillas, and in concert they deliver these elements with more energy and adrenaline than ever. Whether they’re tearing through early favorites like “Shoot the Moon” or playing cuts from their ninth album Break the Spell, Voodoo Glow Skulls always get fans moshing, skanking, and stage diving with their frenetic, immensely enjoyable performances on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
?
Voodoo Glow Schools was formed in Riverside, CA in 1988 by brothers Eddie, Jorge, and Frank Casillas. They cut their teeth performing at house parties and local venues with fellow SoCal ska punk bands like The Dickies and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and in 1990 they released their first 7” The Old of Tomorrow. Following a DIY tour of the US, they added a horn section to the lineup and released their second 7” Rasta Mis Huevos. The band’s 1993 debut full-length Who Is, This Is? was a massive underground hit, leading to more touring and a record deal with venerable punk label Epitaph Records. They went on to release four LPs with the label including 1995’s Firme and 1997’s Baile de Los Locos, two seminal ska punk albums that remain a staple of their live sets on tour. In the '00s the band released three more albums on Victory Records, and in 2012 they released their self-produced ninth full-length Break the Spell on Smelvis Records. Since then they’ve continued to rock rude boys and girls around the world with their electrifying performances on tour.

by chbrown626 on 4/7/10Gothic Theatre - EnglewoodThis show was wonderful. The openers, No Bueno, had great energy and started the show off right. Left Alone put on a great set and were a lot of fun. Authority Zero rocked the house and totally stole the show. Their performance was stellar, as always, and got the crowd pumped for Voodoo. Authority Zero's new songs were great, but they played a lot of old favorites and everyone was able to sing along and join in the amazing energy in the room. Voodoo Glow Skulls were wonderful. They played so much old, great music; it was like a trip back to middle school and seeing them in Boulder @ Club 156! I loved everything! And their new trumpet player, Mark, was super nice and was mingling in the crowd. A very nice touch to meet some of the band and see how down to earth they were. Overall, AMAZING!
